Project Name: | COPAA Non-Attorney Parent Advocate Training |
Cost: | $1,300 |
Recurring?: | Yes, if funding available. |
Description: | COPAA conducts a year-long training program for non-attorney parent advocates, called SEAT (Special Education Advocate Training). It is distance learning, equivalent to about three college credits, spread out over the course of each academic year. In 2014-15, Innisfree paid the tuition for Joy Tallerico (the named plaintiff in the Dumont class action) to attend this training. Since then, Joy has provided (and continues to provide) pro bono services to Innisfree’s constituents as a non-attorney parent advocate.
We would like to provide this scholarship annually, with conditions that the recipient continues to be involved in Innisfree’s work, and provide pro bono services to Innisfree’s constituents. |
Beneficiaries: | Non-Attorney Parent Advocates, and their future clients. |
